Blue Star Marker
In 2005 to 2014, the Elm Grove Garden Club undertook the placing of a Blue Star Marker at the corner of Legion Drive and Juneau Boulevard. This site was chosen to commemorate the former home of the Stenz-Griessell-Smith Post 449. The bronze marker has been placed and is surrounded by a small garden and landscaping. Members furnish the plants and maintain the garden. A bench has been placed for meditation purposes and to rest and reflect on those who served and are still serving in the Military.
The "Blue Star Brick" pathway winds around the garden area. The beautiful area is now complete. Please stop to admire and honor those on the engraved bricks. The bricks were placed to:
a) Commemorate a family's place in Elm Grove history.
b) Honor a family member, friend or associate currently serving in the military or one who has served in the past.
c) Recognize a military member who has passed on.
d) Celebrated a special occasion or event.
e) Remember a loved one.
f) Recognize an achievement.
The bricks were engraved using a laser process that will penetrate, melt and crystalize the clay brick, resulting in a permanent engraving.
